The world’s has a new richest individual. It’s Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla.
It is estimated that Musk, who also manages SpaceX and The Boring Business, is worth over $185 billion, while Amazon founder Bezos, who has held the title since 2017, is worth $184 billion.
Musk tweeted “How strange,” in response to the story, and then “Well, back to work …”
The rise of Elon to the top of the list is the fastest in history, revealing that he was worth $27 billion at the beginning of 2020, which only placed him in the top 50 richest people.
Musk was just the seventh wealthiest individual in July, passing the investment symbol Warren Buffett. In November, Microsoft founder Bill Gates passed him on to become the second wealthiest.
Tesla stock propelled Musk to the top o f the list, as it has increased nine times in value. Musk actually owns about 20% of the company and is highly paid for in corporate shares.
